Helvetica

Well, well, well. I think I'm getting deeper and deeper into design. No, I am being pushed, that's right. What you see above is a name of a typeface that's being used world wide. Seriously. You may not realize it at first, but after watching "Helvetica The Movie" during your Digital Design class, and yes it is a movie about the making of that particular font, you are gonna be so aware of Helvetica. Oh yes you are.

The movie is not boring. I kinda like it. It tells a story behind the making of a typeface. Back then when computers were not created, yet. The time where if you wanted to publish a news paper, you'll have to put letters by letters in order, and do the traditional ink-letter-printing, that hell takes lots of time. Also back then when Helvetica first created. The curves matter, so does the length and how bold it's gonna be. What message it's going to give to people, it does matter, really.

That's practically boring for you, probably. However, I think my friend and I enjoyed it. Not much, but we actually did. Just for fun, refreshing, but we did enjoy it. I am surprised to know that making a font, is a hell of a work. Typography is just so complicated. And those people who claims them self as a typographer, does pay attention to the tiniest detail! I couldn't handle that!

Oh well. Look around you. Helvetica is watching.
